Remember, Remember, the V for Vendetta Advergame

One of my favorite recent movies is V for Vendetta. Luckily for me, I found an advergame that promoting the DVD release for the movie. As far as I can tell the game is actually promoting the DVD release of the movie in France. First of all, all of the text in the game is in French, and second of all the DVD was released on August first in the states, and the advergame says the DVD was released in on October 19th.

Even though the directions are in French I was able to figure out how to play the game reletivley easily. In the game you play as the character V and you punch and kick your way though various henchman. I was impressed with how quickly and accuratly the character reacted to the controls as well as how the game remained consistant with the color and design of the movie.

There were however something that I think the game could improve on. First of all, the game was too short. There were about three minute long levels that were almost too easy to beat. Also, when you beat the game, as far as I can tell, nothing happens. The game does however provide a link to the Warners Bros. V for Vendetta homepage where you can find out more about the movie and view the page in almost any language you'd like. I was acutally very impressed with the homepage. It showed movie trailers, clips fpr the movie, pictures, storyboards, and interviews. One thing I did notice is that I couldn't find a link to the game (at least on the US and UK sites).

In my opinion, the V for Vendetta advergame could have been much better. First, the game could have been longer and and had more levels, this would involved the player a lot more. Also I would have made a link to the game on Warner Bros. V for Vendetta homepage. Compared to the movie's website, the game seems like it's lacking interactivity as well as webpage stickiness.
